چکیده
BackgroundDry Eye Disease (DED) and related ocular surface diseases have multiple etiologies, but two of the most prevalent are Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) Conjunctivochalasis (CCH). This study examines a customizable two-step approach utilizing radiofrequency to treat these commonly coexisting condi-tions provide patients with relief from DED signs symptoms.
Study DesignAn IRB approved retrospective chart review 25 consecutively treated was conducted. Patients were included if they presented symptoms combination treatment improve both MGD CCH, pre- post-treatment dry eye metrics outlined below. Follow-up visit information compared pre-treatment baseline evaluate efficacy safety treatment.
ResultsStatistically significant results observed in decrease as evaluated by primary endpoints Standard Patient Evaluation Dryness (SPEED) questionnaire an increase number Glands Yielding Liquid Secretion (MGYLS). Tear Meniscus Height also saw statistically improvement while Non-invasive Break-Up Time (NTBUT) Schirmer’s minor progress. Clinical evaluation photographs showed marked CCH minimal side effects during post-operative follow-up visits.
ConclusionA device provides clinical symptomatic for broad spectrum who had received variety prior treatments DED.

PURPOSE The principal risks of needle biopsy are hemorrhage and implantation of tumor cells in the needle tract. This study compared hemorrhage after liver and kidney biopsy with and without radiofrequency (RF) ablation of the needle tract. MATERIALS AND METHODS Biopsies of liver and kidney were performed in swine through introducer needles modified to allow RF ablation with the distal 2 cm o...

We evaluated the change in tear film lipid layer thickness, corneal thickness, volume and topography after superficial cauterization of symptomatic conjunctivochalasis. Bilateral superficial conjunctival cauterization was performed in 36 eyes of 18 patients with symptomatic conjunctivochalasis. The mean age of patients (12 males, 6 females) was 68.6 ± 10.9 years (range: 44-83 years). Preoperati...
